
Call Centre Application
A customer's call centre application, critical to its business, had no test coverage. The application was an internally developed system with a Visual Basic user interface and a bespoke middleware layer that brokered requests to its downstream data systems.
HP Mercury LoadRunner had previously been used by several test consultants to investigate the development of a series of automated test scripts; however the high volume of transactions in the scripts were complex and unmanageable. Guild Associates was asked to resolve the problem of providing an accurate, stable, maintainable test solution.
The solution that Guild Associates developed, incorporated a unique test harness, written in a mixture of Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) language and the customer's bespoke middleware language, that implemented a unique approach to recording the raw template scripts. The test harness was developed to interface with HP Mercury LoadRunner to generate the required scenario performance loads. In addition, Guild Associates developed a bespoke approach to convert the raw recordings into the final automated test scripts that now provide full test coverage.
